We all know that UFC was the basic founder of MMA Pound for Pound and today this is being dealt with many more organizations and not just the Ultimate Fighting Championship. UFC was earlier banned due to its rules of brutality which were later reorganized and phrased and gave the world a new picture. Today MMA Pound for Pound does not remain a sport alone. Its influence in the market outside is so high that there are various other things that are pinned to it. What we see today from an outer world is just the players, the matches and the results and the ranks. But there is more to it.

With the promoters bringing it under a big banner to get more collections and have more people walk in there is huge amount of finance that goes in and comes out. Just like how a movie has producers and people advertising for the same, MMA also has its own set of marketing and advertising strategy. In addition to all this there are online bets for each game that happens. These matches are live telecasted on paid cable connections and are popularly viewed by the viewers through it.

Though the attires for the fighters are just shorts, there is much more promotional stuff like shirts, wrist bands that keep going round in the market. We have the posters of the MMA top players being sold crazy and T shirts coming with their pictures imprinted.
Looking at it in an optimistic sense we see that a simple game is giving job opportunities to various people including the stadium staff to the youngsters who give away flyers on the upcoming events in MMA. There would certainly be card collections happening among students and teenagers with the information about their favorite fighter and their pictures being published. Not all would be able to watch these matches live and many of these and in fact all of the past matches are available recorded in one website or the other giving its viewers the option to watch it over and over again at their convenient time.

With the year coming to a close- we have one common question in all of the MMA Pound for Pound viewers and followers. Who will be the champion of the year 2009? Well as we all know that there has been never one person on the top and we keep seeing new faces now and then.

Here is the latest top list for last week – we have Anderson Silva heading the list with 20.07% closely followed by Georges St. Pierre with 18.07% and then by Fedor, BJ Penn, Lyoto Machida  and Jose Aldo in the top 6 positions. This shows that we have had Anderson leading the list for almost close to more than 5 months in a row. MMA pound for pound has many sites that give rankings for its players based on the votes that have been collected. Because of these categories, it becomes difficult to identify one player as the champion of the year 2009. They have always been different with respect to the weight categories that they fight for.

These rankings are more based on votes and sometimes makes the voters feel that the results are biased which is really difficult to contradict. As always in any other sport even in MMA Pound for Pound there is always a favorite fighter who might really not be the best or on the top. It is their actions and expressions that also capture the viewers and make them vote for it. Above all this we really don’t know if it is the same or is there any modification done from the website to suit their business as well.  There are huge amounts of bids and bets that go on during and after the course of a match. So these results are really unpredictable. One should also accept that the winner is not decided  based on a series of tournaments where one plays all the rest of them- this is more or less decided on the events that the promoters conduct an the corresponding two players fight for the winning title and money.

These fighters really risk their lives when they fight inside the ring which is one reason why there are many fans to it as the people see it coming live before them and enjoy every aspect of it.MMA Pound for Pound fights have five minute round and cannot play more than 5 rounds continuously. With many people arguing on its ratings and ranks of the player- there are many who feel and say that MMA is more violent in nature but one should also remember that this also has rules and regulations that need to be strictly adhered too and is just like boxing where the fighter uses both his hands and legs instead of just hands.
As far as the rankings are concerned- I personally think that all viewers have their own heroes on the top and ruling the rest. So it’s more or less a personal ranking that the fighter gets in each of his viewer’s hearts.
